Our organization is comprised of students across all backgrounds and disciplines at Yale University. Undergraduates, graduate students, and students at Yale’s professional schools are all welcome to join as long as they have an interest in quantitative finance and an eagerness to learn.
YSQRG was started in 2019 when a clear lack of financial education was present. No major organizations existed at Yale dealing with quantitative finance methods or investment, and there were few outlets for interested members of the Yale community to learn more about the topic. Therefore YSQRG was founded to fill that need and provide Yale students with much-desired quantitative finance education.
We teach members all they need to know about finance. We look for students with a general interest in the field of finance/investment and strong quantitative skills in the areas of mathematics, statistics, computer science, et cetera. Many successful members of our organization entered with little to no investment knowledge but came prepared with backgrounds in physics, engineering, and other STEM fields.
Our goal is to educate members about the principles of fundamental and quantitative finance strategies. We do this through a weekly lecture series, guest speakers, and engaging research projects.
In addition to organized recruiting events and tech talks which are limited to club members, we make visits to firms and host a variety of other networking events.
With the knowledge, members have acquired through our educational curricula, lecture series, and guest speakers, members embark on their own research projects and develop their own ideas for algorithmic trading, informed sports betting, and other quantitatively driven financial opportunities.
